Course Description
This is the second of a three-term sequence of Elementary Hindi with Dr. Rajiv Ranjan. The focus of the course is to develop students’ linguistic (grammar and vocabulary), communicative (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), and cultural competence. The course will follow Dr. Ranjan's online textbook, Basic Hindi 1.
HINDI 102 aims to develop students’ proficiency up to the novice high or intermediate low level of the American Council on the Teaching Foreign Languages (ACTFL) proficiency scale. The pedagogical approach of this course will be primarily communicative, however, we will adopt various techniques to meet the learning styles of the students in a unique online learning environment.
By the end of the HINDI 102 course, students will be able to read and write in Hindi, and handle intermediate mid-level interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communications along with cultural appropriateness in Hindi.
HINDI 102 will provide a strong foundation for those wishing to continue their study of the language, travel and communicate in India, begin translation work, engage with Hindi-language films, and more!
