Location

We will be staying at Irides Luxury Hotel on the island of Aegina. The hotel is located right on the beach, just outside the village of Souvala in Agious on the north side of Aegina island (vis a vis Athens) in Greece.

Irides is a small hotel-resort situated right next to the sea. You can wake up with the sound of the waves, watch the sunrise above the mainland and start your day with a lovely walk next to the sea.

One of the main attractions of Aegina is that it is a real living and working island. Thankfully not a victim of mass tourism, Aegina is the perfect destination for the independent traveller who yearns to experience an authentic reality of the country. Those who are well travelled in Greece will note that Aegina is not as ‘manicured’ as some islands popular with foreign tourists. It hosts mainly Greek weekend visitors. This simply adds to its charm.

Instructors

Dr. Seth Powell

Founder & Director, Yogic Studies

Seth Powell is a scholar of Indian religions, Sanskrit, and yoga traditions, who earned his PhD in South Asian Religions at Harvard University. His dissertation comprised a critical edition, translation, and detailed study of a 15th-century Sanskrit yoga text from south India known as the ƚivayogapradÄ«pikā—which uniquely combines yoga, ritual, and devotion. He also works extensively on the visual and material culture of yoga in premodern India, uncovering yoga's past through temple sculptures.

As an educator, Seth is passionate about sharing the latest academic research on yoga's vast history and philosophies and is gifted in his ability to present the ancient teachings of yoga clearly in an accessible, light-hearted, and inspiring manner—while maintaining a rigor and sensitivity to traditional Indian knowledge systems. He founded Yogic Studies in 2018 as a way to bridge academia with the broader yoga world.

Evi Tassa

Founder of Sahadeva Yoga Center, E-RYT 500HR ΄Α

Evi Tassa is the founder of Sahadeva Yoga Center in Athens, Greece, where she teaches yoga and meditation and leads Yoga Teacher Trainings.

She met yoga while studying Fine Arts in Bali, in 2010. Practicing yoga and meditation revealed her a new way of life, the one that connect us with the true self and our true nature. In 2013 she was certified as a yoga teacher with the intention to inspire people to experience a conscious life and follow a path of self-realization. Her classes are naturally flowing, creating space for people to transform and grow. As a ritual, they lead you into a deeper state of inner freedom and tranquility.

Evi travelled to India in 2016 where she lived in an ashram and deepened her exploration of yoga and meditation. She then lived in China from 2017 until 2019, where she experienced the Taoist culture and taught yoga. In 2019 she visited India again, to study next with Swami Vidyanand.

Evi is an E-RYT 500 of Yoga Alliance and a Grand Master Yoga & Meditation of Yoga Alliance International of India. She has been also certified as a teacher in Restorative, Yin Yoga, Prenatal and Kids Yoga. For 5 years she attended Sanskrit language and Indian Philosophy classes at the Athens Center for Indian & Indo-Hellenic Studies. Since 2022 she has been studying Sanskrit and yoga philosophy at Yogic Studies where she is pursuing the YSACP.
